Act as If

Thumbs Up Businessmen

You want a really powerful technique that will knock the socks off your competitors and your customers? Just act as if.

Act as if you have already made the sale, you will sell more.

Act as if you have already beat your competitors, they will pick up on that and begin to panic.

Act as if you are already successful and people will begin to treat you that way.

My father was a master at this. He was a great salesman and later a great teacher. We would go to a college campus, or a football game, or sometimes just be out and about. I am always curious and would ask about a building, or I would say out loud how I wish we could go in there.

Off he would go, just pulling on doors to see which one was unlocked. I would get scared, but he would turn to me and say, “Act as if you were supposed to be here and no one will say anything different”.

Guess what? He was right, he was always right. We would get inside the private practice facilities of major sports programs (I will not tell you which). One day we decided to go into the science building of a large university. Before we knew it we were in the reptile lab with several graduate assistance and they were pulling out exotic snakes, lizards, turtles, and things that I did not know even existed.

Why? My father just went in and started asking quesitons. He was genuinely curious. When he asked he acted as if he expected them to answer him. He was not rude or disrespectful. He was not loud and boastful. He was not overbearing. He simply asked and waited for them to answer in a very polite and respectful manner.

You know what? They always answered. They always were happy to answer. No one ever questioned why we were there.

He acted as if. It was great fun, it was harmless, and I got to see many things that I never thought I would see.

Just act as if, and see where it gets you!

The Reality of Social Networking

Published by Coach Kip under Choices, Marketing, Process, Success

Up until now you were used to making friends through friends, work, your relatives, maybe school if you are at that age.  Very rarely did we not make friends through random contact.  But now Social Networking is fast changing the social norms of our society.  There is another medium to make friends.  For the first time user it may sound a bit strange to talk to someone you cannot see but this is the way friendship is bing offered on social networking sites like MySpace, Friendster, or Facebook.

Being Yourself

Be careful you may just like it.  There are many reasons why the social networking sites have become so popular.  MySpace and Facebook are having a virtual battle for who is going to be the most popular.  MySpace is huge with the youngsters, and Facebook is gaining huge recognition among the Generation Xers and above.  To get on one is easy.  All you have to do is develop your profile on the social networking site.  You do not need to be an expert on the Internet to do this.  Often with just a little trial and error and some help from your friends you can have your very own profile.  Once your profile is active you have hundreds, thousands, and even millions of people just waiting to be your friend.    Before making friends with these people you have the chance to learn all about that person through their profile.  If it is not what you are looking for that is ok.  That just is not possible making friends the traditional way.

No Membership Fees

One way for people who were new to an area before was to join a club or group.  This is almost the same, but with no fees.  There are some sites that charge a fee to join, but the biggest, like Facebook and MySpace are free to join.

Extra Services Included

Facebook has recently opened its platform to developers.  This is great for you because now you get to join groups, engage in hobbies or pastimes, exchange information on any subject.  With the creativity of programmers you can add many things to your profile site such as music, videos, blogs, interactive calenders, and more.  The sites are exploding, and the usability seems endless right now.

Business Development

With the development of these sites people are finding that they can include their business on their profile and profit from it greatly.  In making new friends and relationships you can build clients, and joint venture opportunities.  Start now that aspect is just beginning to be developed.

Seeking friendship and relationships on social networking sites is a good way for any adult to make new friends, business relationships, and seek new ideas.

How do you Monetize Your Site?

While trying to develop my other sites I have been looking for opportunities to monetize my site. Of course I do have some banner ads, I have some text ads. I have tried a few other programs but I don’t seem to be able to earn more than a few cents a day. It has been a slow go. Clearly not enough to get to my goal. In the mean time I have been doing a lot of other work to earn an income that will sustain me for a long time. I guess my biggest lesson that I have learned is that, just like anything else, a true income is slow going. There does exist get rich quick schemes, but for the most part it is a long sustained effort that will make a true income.

I have found a few good steady sources of income that will get you through a few days or a few weeks until you can get a true steady income source.

PayPerPost is always a great place to go to get some income. There are many opportunities there that have income possibilities that range in income from a few bucks to several hundred dollars. You get to pick and chose what to blog about and accept only those that you feel are appropriate for you. Simply find a site or a product that fits your personality and your blog and then write about it. As long as you meet a few simple criteria you will get paid.
It is a simple and fair system. One that works really well. I certainly prefer this to trying to do affiliate marketing. I think that some will see it as the same, and to some maybe that is true. To me it is more like seeing a good movie. You go tell your friends about that movie right? You say “Hey you really got to see this movie, it is great” then you go on to tell them all the good things about the movie without giving anything away. It is the same with PayPerPost. Find something you like. Tell people about it, and you get a little kickback. I wish the movie theaters would give me a kickback every time I told someone about a movie I liked. I would be a thousandaire by now.
Of course when your blog reaches certain levels you can begin to set your own price. At this level you can make a nearly unlimited amount of income. Now instead of you having to sift through all the different opportunities you can sit back and wait for them to come to you. Ahhh the joy of a steady income and the ability to hold the power.

There are a lot of income possibilities out there. I think that one of the problems that a lot of bloggers have, including me, is that they try to hard to make their site profitable. It is my belief and experience that if you simply write about what you enjoy and what you like then the monetization will come. Simply be you. People like it when you are not fake or transparent. They like real. They like you. The money will come from you being you.

Free Source! We all like free.

Published by Coach Kip under Article, Marketing

I don’t like to write articles about other products just to try to sell you something, so how about writing about something that is FREE? I like free.

A resource that has helped me tremendously is the free ebook by Yaro Starak entitled Blog Profit Blueprints. If you are a blogger either just beginning or have been blogging for a while this is helpful. The best part is that he includes for free an MP3 version of the book. I have included many links inside this article, and an icon over there on the top of the right column. Again it is free to take advantage of it. I am not part of his Blog Mastermind Group, but from what I hear it is very successful.

MP3 books are the best thing that I use in my daily personal development. Putting the right information in is a key to getting what you want out of yourself. There is a lot of negative information going around, especially on TV. I know I am a TV junkie. It is just too easy to turn on the idiots lantern and not think of much else. Getting the right information from books, MP3 audio files, or even ebooks from Audible.com.

Be proactive in your development, be the one in control of your input, and your output will be much greater.

The Laws of the Internet

I really don’t know how the internet works. That may sound funny from someone who is trying to build an internet empire. Heck that may even sound ridiculous. How in the world is someone going to make money on the internet when they don’t even know how it works?

Ok so I know the basics. I know that connecting with others, and giving good information is the cornerstone to getting people to your site. Search engines are ok, but they don’t work like good old networking.

But, every once and a while something comes up and you don’t expect it. I have an old site that I used to dabble with and help me learn how to blog. All of a sudden it is starting to get some traffic. As a matter of fact it made a few dollars last month. And for what, I did not do anything; I did not make a single post since May. So why is this happening?

Having a good stat counter can help you analyze this. Stat counters are not just to be vain with. It is not just to see how many people you can get to your site. Stat counters are useful for many analytical ways. Being a coach, a math teacher, and an ex engineer, analysis is right where I belong.

The site is Good Putting.com. It is a good little site and has some potential. Looking up the stats I am finding that there are a whole bunch of hits coming from people looking up putters, and what pro is using what putter. It is really good to know. I guess I need to pick it back up again and start doing a little research. This is good because I like golf, and I am a good putter.

Get a good stat counter. I use StatCounter.com and Google Analytics for my sites. Why two? I get a better understanding of where my hits are coming from and why. The key is to use them to see where you are getting traffic, and then target those people to drive in more traffic.

Conceive It, Believe It, Achieve It.

Challenge Update

I have been working on driving traffic to my sites, and I have found a great tool for doing so. StumbleUpon. I know that it is not new and probably most of you have used it in the past, but so far Stumble has so far exceeded anything else I have tried that it is clearly the best.

Every time I submit an article I get a jump of at least 100 hits. When you are only talking 5-20 hits a day depending on my sites that is a significant jump.

I have started taking bids for the redesign of EZ Playbook. We have decided to hire someone to do what we really want to do. If you happen to come across this and are an internet programmer and designer feel free to send us an email at coachkip@ezplaybook.com

It has been another long week, but I am taking Friday off (this will post Saturday like usual but I am actually writing it on Friday). Taking the day off because we don’t have a game is really nice. It is kind of like a preview to how my life will be soon. It makes me energetic, alive, happy, and excited. I love doing what I want to do, waking when I want to wake, being who I want to be.

So here we go. The stats to now

9/9/2007 Begin $0.00
9/22/2007 Previous $62.61
9/29/2007 Gross $193.83
9/29/2007 Expenses ($112.96)
9/29/2007 Net $143.48

Another profit. Great! Can’t have those days that I lose money. It is going slow, but I feel the momentum building. It will take a while but it will come.

Most of the money this week has been earned through affiliate marketing. I am going to take a lot of time today and tomorrow to find some good affiliates. It will help my income tremendously. I surely have not found the answer yet but I am getting there.

I am also working on a few ebooks and email newsletters. This will help with the income too.

My Web 2.0 Sites are Working

Published by Coach Kip under Marketing, Process

I posted my article about my Web 2.0 sites and signed up for those sites that I have listed at 5 pm on Sunday night.  It is now 11 am on Monday morning.  I am excited!

In 18 hours, most of which were in the middle of the night and early morning the results are coming in.  So far it looks like this

From Statcounter:

  Referring Link
drill down 3 www.technorati.com/posts/tag/spigit
drill down 2 www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=coach%2C kip
drill down 1 reddit.com/?offset=864
drill down 1 reddit.com/?offset=356
drill down 1 No referring link
drill down 1 reddit.com/?ref=G728×90B&offset=888
drill down 1 www.stumbleupon.com/refer.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.coachkip.net%2F

I have 3 links from technorati, 3 from reddit and 1 from stumble.  I think that is great.

From Google Analytics it looks like this

Source/Medium Visits Pages/Visit Avg. Time on Site % New Visits Bounce Rate
2.

reddit.com / referral

9 3.11 00:08:04 55.56% 66.67%
4.

au.mg1.mail.yahoo.com / referral

1 1.00 00:00:00 100.00% 100.00%
6.

technorati.com / referral

1 1.00 00:00:00 100.00% 100.00%

Now look at the stats.  92 from StumbleUpon, 9 from Reddit, and 1 from Technorati.

I have always used statcounter to keep track of my stats.  I guess I just have never had enough traffic to have to use Google Analytics.  I have heard that Google is as good as it gets, and I guess it is.  I still think that statcounter is useful and will continue to use it, it is also free, just look to the side bar and there is a button link to it.

And for those of you who have read my past articles, yes I am still teaching.  I am writing this on my lunch break.  Don’t worry your kids are still getting the best education that government money can buy.

That’s all I have time for, I will check again tonight and give a more detailed analysis while the game is on.

Thanks for stopping by!
