My New Position with ActionCOACH
After yet another brief hiatus Coach Kip is back. So let me fill you in on what is happening and how I got here.
Being deported from Taiwan was both a great opportunity and very scary. I knew that I would be going out on my own and creating my own world. No more having a job, no more living paycheck to paycheck. There was only opportunity for me.
On the other hand things were much worse than I thought when I was in Taiwan. I was unfocused and money was instantly an issue. So what to do? Get a part time job. Guess what? I could not find one. Even though I knew I wanted to be a coach, and I wanted to coach people and businesses, I needed to fill the money gap while. I had money issues hovering over me all the while. It was a bad situation and I did not know what to do to change it.
To make a long story short it was not easy. But I did find what I wanted…ActionCOACH. ActionCOACH is a business coaching firm. I knew that I needed help getting started, but I also knew that business coaching is a term that is brand new to small businesses and that it would be difficult to find. ActionCOACH has the reputation, the ability to say that they are the Worlds #1 Business Coaching Franchise, they boast a network of 1300 coaches world wide who all work together and are able to exchange ideas and solutions. ActionCOACH was the answer. Now how do I make it happen?
First let me say that working for ActionCOACH is not a job. Again I believe that work is good, it keeps us young, it keeps us interested in life, and it is essentially what we wish to do as human beings. I see only endless opportunity in becoming a coach at ActionCOACH and not having to do the difficult and time consuming job of creating materials, systems, the coaching program, and all the other things that happen.
After several months, literally several months, of interviews and speaking with everyone I could about ActionCOACH I was ready to make a decision. All I needed to do was to find the right fit. Nashville was not working out, besides I like the water and despite all the entertainment and enjoyment that I have had in Nashville it was time to move on. Finally I found a fit in Miami. So how do I get the position?
Just show up! That is literally what I did. They invited me and I showed up. They were not ready for me to be there, but that is ok. That is step one. So what is step two? Work your ass off!
So here I am at a place that I have never been before, working for a business that was not really sure that I would be there, and I just show up. The next step is to work, so right away I did whatever they asked of me, then I did more. I got on the phones and made calls, I showed up at business meetings and I did everything I could to meet people. The result? One month later I am still here and still doing well.
So expect more posts, they will of course focus on business and business coaching, but my real passion is helping entrepreneurs, helping people, and applying lessons learned in sports to other aspects of life.
