Actually I am not referring to our government as being best. There is always a better way of doing things. Everyone has their opinion on that part, even me. But it is what we have and it has worked very well for us for the past 230 years.

What I mean is the people. Sure we have our problems, but for the most part Americans are a very kind and giving society. We do have a lot of money, and we do consume a lot of things. We consume a lot of needless things, including oil. But we also work hard, we are independent, we are innovative, and when someone is in need we help.

We cannot help the world, but we do our best in helping others. I would certainly rather put our time and effort into helping others causes, and stop the war that we are fighting in Iraq. But we have committed to that, and I am proud that we are not walking away when the people there need us. I am proud of our military. I am proud that we finally stuck up for who we are. We have been picked on an awful lot just because we have success. We certainly don't pick fights, but we will fight back when we feel threatened. I think everyone forgets that we did not start this whole thing. They first attacked our allies, and the middle east came to us for help. Then they attacked us on our own soil. That cannot be tolerated.

I am sure the the Swiss are great, and I hope to visit there someday. But I like our government just the way it is. We simply need better leaders.

First off how can one group of people that only has their borders in common be better than any other? If by best, you are referring t government and freedoms, I think you need to educate yourself about other countries political systems. A good example is the Swiss system. If you think the United States Political system is the most democratic you will be in for a big disappointment. First off, the US system isn't even a democratic system in the truest sense of the word; it is a Federal Republic, where republic refers to representation. Since the people do not vote on laws and such and have representatives do that for them, it is considered a republic not a democracy. Whereas, the Swiss system is still a Republic and still a Federation, the people get to vote on many of the laws passed. This makes their system more democratic than the US system.
